The purpose of the visit was to escort the two Danish Generals on a flight with the 109th Air National Guard C-130 unit that operates out of Kangerlussuaq Greenland each summer. The 109th performs missions onto the Greenlandic icecap in support of U.S. National Science Foundation international scientific efforts, equipping their aircraft with ski’s in order to operate on the permanent ice.
