My good friend Emu and I took a trip to the United States of America to visit the Capital city.
In Denmark, the capital is Copenhagen; it is a bit more difficult to explain America´s capital. The United States of America consists of 50 states, and each state has its own capital. You might know some of them, and if you do not, then maybe your teacher could show you on a map. In Tennessee it is Nashville, in Utah it is Salt Lake City, and in Texas it is Austin. But there is also a federal capital called Washington, D.C. The last two letters are short for District of Columbia.
Look at all the pictures, Emu and I took on our trip!

Here we are on our way to the airport on a train.
We made it to Kastrup close to Copenhagen, where the airport is. Emu is checking us in at the airport.
Now it is time to say “see you in the United States” to our bags. The lady at the counter was so sweet!
We are onboard and ready to fly to the United States of America. Have you ever been there?
We have landed and are now adjusting to American time in our hotel. There is a six hours time difference between Denmark and Washington D.C. That means that when it is time to go to bed in Denmark, you have not even had
Even though Washington, D.C. and the United States are far away from Denmark, children play just like they do back home. This girl showed us how to hang in your arms.
Maybe your parents have read Peter Rabbit (Peter Kanin in Danish) to you? Here we are trying to read one of the tales but the pages are made in stone.
We made a lot of sweet kids at a park called the National Mall. These guys showed us Capitol Hill and the Capitol where the Congress meets to discuss politics. Can you see it in the background?
The National Mall is a big park with a lot of different important statues and memorials. This one is called the Washington Monument which is for the first President of the United States, George Washington.
We also visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum with our new friends. It maintains the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world. It is also a vital center for research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and space flight, as well as planetary sci
Here is another picture from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The National Mall Building in Washington, D.C. has hundreds of artifacts on display including the original Wright 1903 Flyer, the Spirit of St. Louis,
Here we are in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, and he is known as the Great Emancipator because he was president during the American Civil War.
This is a statue of President Lincoln; it is made in white marble.
This is the National Mall seen from another angle. Both Emu and I thought it was a great place. If you ever find yourself in Washington, D.C. you should definitely go.
It has been a long day with many impressions and new friends, so we decided to take a rest at the World War II Memorial. It honors the 16 million who served in the armed forces of the U.S., the more than 400,000 who died.
