Signing of Condolence Book at Netherlands Embassy

Ambassador Gifford visited the Embassy of the Netherlands in Denmark to offer condolences and assure the Netherlands Chargé d’Affaires, Joan W. Coert, that the U.S. will help in any way possible with the investigation of the crash of MH17 in which 192 Dutch citizens died along with citizens from Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Germany, Belgium, Philippines, Canada, and New Zealand.

Ambassador Gifford was interviewed by TV2 News; he noted that it was good that the UN unanimously passed a resolution condemning the downing of MH17 and starting an independent international investigation, and that the U.S. will do anything it can to help. He also noted that Russia should help make sure such an investigation is unimpeded. Upon leaving the Embassy, Ambassador Giffor laid flowers at the entrance.
